The Hermitage NJ Ho-Ho-Kus

Another popular tourist in the world besides the Neuschwanstein Castle was the Hermitage New Jersey. Tour the Hermitage is located in Ho-Ho-Kus, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The Hermitage is a museum of the Gothic Revival-style house with fourteen rooms built in 1847 to 1848. The Hermitage was designed by William h. Ranlett for Elijah Rosencrantz Jr.

This house was originally built in the tradition of the Netherlands-America. The Hermitage mansion consists of wood-shingled roof and pointed gables, allows classical music being played to be enjoyed along with the beautiful architecture. In addition, visitors can also find great cedar shed as well.

Visitors during the revolution include James Monroe, William Paterson, the Marquis de Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton, Lord Stirling and Aaron Burr. In 1782, after her husband was killed during the war, Theodosia Prevost married Aaron Burr on The Hermitage. For a certain period, they lived in a small house adjacent to The Hermitage. That's a glimpse of the history of the Hermitage.

The Hermitage itself is owned by the State of New Jersey. The Hermitage is a museum. The Hermitage was opened to the public throughout the year, financed and operated by The Friends of the Hermitage, Inc. The Friends of the Hermitage, Inc. is a non-profit organization.
